Today, I was using it to connect to my home network, and I decided to transfer the connection to my laptop. I connected the router, and I switched to the new router and connected to my laptop. The only explanation I could come up with was that the laptop’s ethernet cable was connected directly to the router’s port, and therefore the printer was using the same port as my laptop.

They’re not like laptops and desktops. They’re not like external drives. They’re wired in, and they’re not just for sharing files. They’re also for running software that’s supposed to keep your computer and other devices connected to a network. If you can’t access your printer, you need to check the ports that are assigned to your router.
